Turkey Trot 2011 Great Success
The 2011 Jon Callaghan Memorial Turkey Trot raised over $20,000.
There were a total of 684 registered participants for the 2011 Turkey Trot event on Thanksgiving morning, which is the largest turnout to date. A total of $20,474 in proceeds were collected and after expenses, $15,500 was distributed between four recipients this year. A check was presented to the Gurnee Community Church for their Youth Mission program.
The check was accepted by Jon Fowler. The Youth Mission group will be returning to Panama to continue and build upon their work there in 2010.
Comer Children’s Hospital at the University of Chicago received a check for their neuroblastoma research. Another check was presented to District 56 School Superintendant Dr. John Hutton and Director of Pupil Services, Tamara Kroc for their Special Needs program. A check was also presented to Warren Township Supervisor-Administrator Ryan Johnson, for the Warren Township Food Pantry, which has seen more families in need of help due to the economy.
We would like to thank everyone who came out to support this great cause. We would like to thank all of our Sponsors for their generosity.
We look forward to 2012
